Frequently Asked Questions
There are three options:
-Print your own labels from home ($10*)
-2 Sheets of Labels (160) Printed and mailed to you ($15)
-4 Sheets of Labels (320) Printed and mailed to you ($20)
*Volunteers working 10 hours or more will receive a $10 discount on their registration fee, making the print at home option free.
You will earn 70% on all of your sold items (less the registration fee based on whether you print your own labels or have us print and mail labels to you). Items are offered at full price Wednesday thru Friday. We offer a half price day on Saturday. You are NOT required to sell your items at half price. If you do not wish to discount an item, write "ND" in the bottom right corner of the tag. See consignor guidelines for more information. You can increase your earnings to 80% or 90% by volunteering. See Volunteer page for specific details.
A common misconception people have is that they can make just as much money selling their items at a garage sale rather than consigning them. Hiz & Herz offers two major advantages over garage sales. First, we offer hundreds of items in all different categories all under one roof. A person would have to shop garage sales all year to find what they will find at one of our events. The second advantage is quality. We inspect all items prior to putting them on the sales floor. People know they will find quality, name-brand items at our sale. People are willing to pay a little more for quality, name-brand items they will know they will find in excellent condition.
No. There is no limit to the number of items you may consign. We reserve the right to limit the number of similar items if space becomes limited. We accept items on a first-come-first-serve basis, and they must meet the acceptance policy of Hiz & Herz. There is, however, a minimum of 30 accepted items to participate in the sale.
No. If you choose to donate them, simply leave them at the sale, and we take care of the rest. If you would like your items back, you will be required to pick them up on Sunday between 10 am – 2 pm. If you are unable to pick your items up during this time or would like more information on our donation program, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Checks will be ready for pick up on Sunday during unsold item pick up. If you choose not to pick up your items, we will mail you a check and donation slip within 48 business hours.
We will do our best to keep tabs on every item that comes through our doors. However, we cannot be held responsible for items lost before, during or after the sale.
Upon registration, Hiz & Herz will provide you with instructions on tagging. You may choose the print at home method or have us mail you barcodes that will need to be placed on index cards.
While it is encouraged, you are not required to use the template. You may download and print our tag template, or complete a 3 x 5 index card with the required information in the required format.
Yes. All clothing must be dropped off to us on a WIRE hanger. One item or set per hanger.
Please check in at the “check in desk” inside the building. We will verify your consignor number and you will receive your pre-sale pass. You will be sent to a check-in table where a volunteer will begin inspecting your items. Once inspected, Consignor will put out their own items in the designated areas.
Yes, each consignor is responsible for putting their hanging items out on the sales floor. Volunteers will put non-hanging items out on the sales floor for you.
Each sale is separate and associated benefits are allowed for the sale(s) for which you consign/volunteer. For example, if you consign at Kidz Shoppe, you will receive a shopping pass for the Kidz Shoppe Pre-Sale. If you consign at Hiz & Herz, you will receive a shopping pass for the Hiz & Herz Pre-Sale. If you consign at both sales, you will receive shopping passes for BOTH Pre-Sales.
Yes, we offer tagging services if you are unable to tag your items. Please contact us if you are interested to learn more.
Hiz & Herz now accepts vendors to either rent space from us during the sale, distribute business flyers and or advertise on our website. Vendors will be able to market their products and services from the preview sale all the way to the sale closing. This is a great way for you to create mailing lists, sell products, and introduce the public to your business. With over 4,000 people visiting each sale, this is a great marketing opportunity. With only a limited number of spaces available, this opportunity will go fast. Email us at email@example.com to secure your spot today.
We need volunteers to help with check-in and check-out, setup and teardown, organizing the merchandise, placing signs around town, food and drink, social media promotion, tagging services, and more as the need arises. Volunteers will be placed where they are most needed, so roles could change throughout your shift. You will not be expected to do anything you do not feel capable of.
Yes, spouses, family members (13 and older) may work and contribute their hours to you. We welcome additional help!
Yes, please note in comments when signing up with the detail information and have the student bring the form with them the day(s) they are volunteering and an owner will sign off on their form.
Yes, you can continue to shop after 3 pm if you are not volunteering on the pre-sale day. Volunteers may also continue to shop during the public sales, providing it is outside of their scheduled volunteer time.
No, you must work the minimum number of hours on a peak day to receive the higher percentage of sales. Our highest need for volunteers are during our peak days/times.
We understand that sometimes the unexpected can prevent you from working your scheduled shift. Our volunteers must be dependable for our sale to remain a success. We will do our best to help you maintain your volunteer benefits depending on the circumstances. To avoid losing your volunteer benefits, you may find a replacement to work your shift (friend, family, other volunteer not scheduled at that date/time). If you do not show up for a scheduled shift without notice, your registration fee WILL NOT BE DISCOUNTED. Additionally, you may lose out on a higher % of earnings depending on your total volunteer hours worked, and may lose your pre-sale pass.
Volunteers, consignors, first responders, and military are welcome to shop the Pre-Sale with one guest. A Pre-Sale Pass is required for admission.
Consignors will receive their Pre-Sale pass at check-in. First responders, and military will receive their pass via email after their request is submitted and approved Non-Consigning volunteers should contact us directly to make arrangements for a pre-sale pass.
Yes, children are welcome at the sale, but please use your best judgement when bringing them. This is a large facility with a lot of attendees. There is no childcare provided onsite. Items are the property of consignors, and if they are broken or separated they cannot be sold.
